RULES & REGULATIONS

1. VALLS DEL FRESER

​

VALLS DEL FRESER is a trail running event featuring several races of different distances: XTREM – TRAIL – SHORT.

​

2. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

​

2.1. Minimum age: 18 years old on the day of the event.
2.2. Registration: Participants must have correctly completed the registration process. Registering implies acceptance of these rules and regulations.
2.3. Gear: Each runner must carry the mandatory gear required by the organization, as well as any additional equipment they deem necessary to face the mountain environment and weather conditions safely.​

XTREM / TRAIL: MANDATORY GEAR

  • Trail running shoes that fully cover the foot

  • Thermal or emergency blanket (minimum size 2 x 1.2 m)

  • Hydration system (minimum capacity 1 L)

  • Backpack or running belt

  • Mobile phone turned on (not in airplane mode)

  • Windproof and breathable jacket with hood

  • Waterproof and breathable jacket with hood (minimum 10,000 mm water column), e.g., Gore-Tex®, Membrain®, H2NO®, HyVent® or similar, with sealed seams and fitted to the runner’s size (required in case of rain forecast)

  • Long-sleeve thermal second layer (minimum 180 g) fitted to the runner’s size (required in case of low temperatures)

  • Long tights or capri tights (required in case of low temperatures)

  • Hat, neck warmer or similar (required in case of low temperatures)

SHORT: MANDATORY GEAR

  • Trail running shoes that fully cover the foot

  • Thermal or emergency blanket (minimum size 2 x 1.2 m)

  • Hydration system (minimum capacity 0.5 L)

  • Backpack or running belt

  • Mobile phone turned on (not in airplane mode)

  • Windproof and breathable jacket with hood

  • Waterproof and breathable jacket with hood (minimum 10,000 mm water column), e.g., Gore-Tex®, Membrain®, H2NO®, HyVent® or similar, with sealed seams and fitted to the runner’s size (required in case of rain forecast)

3. INSURANCE

​

3.1. The organization will have third-party liability insurance in accordance with current regulations.
3.2. Participants must have at least basic accident insurance covering the activity. Those who do not have one must purchase it during registration.

4. REFUND GUARANTEE

​

The organization offers a refund guarantee. Participants who purchase this service at the time of registration will be entitled to a 100% refund of their entry fee.

 

5. LIABILITY

​

5.1. Participants and organizers are subject to compliance with Royal Decree 1428/2003 of November 21, especially Article 14 of Annex 2.
5.2. Participants accept the rules and exempt the organization from any liability in case of accident or damage (material or bodily) before, during, or after the race.
5.3. Participation in this event involves the risk of injury, which can be serious or even fatal. Participants acknowledge and accept this risk, which may include (but is not limited to): falls, collisions, health issues related to physical exertion, illness, fainting, injuries from flora or fauna, or damage/loss/theft of personal equipment.
5.4. Participants must act responsibly and progress safely at all times. This type of race takes place in natural environments that may be difficult to access or control.

 

6. SAFETY

6.1. The organization will place trained personnel at specific points and checkpoints to ensure participant safety. Following their instructions is mandatory.
6.2. Medical staff and ambulances will be available in case of emergency.
6.3. In the event of severe weather or force majeure, the organization reserves the right to cancel, neutralize, or modify the schedule, route, or aid stations. Entry fees will not be refunded.

 

7. RACE DIRECTION

7.1. Race Directors may withdraw a participant if they believe they are unfit to continue, lack mandatory gear, or are in unsuitable condition.
7.2. The Race Direction may cancel, shorten, neutralize, or stop the race for safety or force majeure reasons (weather, external events, etc.).
7.3. The organization reserves the right to modify or suspend the Valls del Freser event rules in case of unforeseen circumstances or force majeure.

8. START / FINISH CONTROL

​

8.1. A control check will be performed before the start within the enclosed area:

  • Verification of bib numbers

  • Possible inspection of all or part of the mandatory gear
    Participants without required gear or with unusable equipment will not be allowed to participate.


9. BIBS

​

9.1. A valid photo ID must be presented to collect the bib. Bibs may not be transferred to another person, and unclaimed bibs or gifts will not be mailed.
9.2. Bibs must be worn on the front and be fully visible at all times. They may not be cut, folded, covered, or modified.

 

10. IMAGE RIGHTS

​

By registering, all participants waive their image rights and authorize the organization and sponsors to freely use any photo or video taken during the event.

​

11. TIMING

​

Participants must correctly pass through all checkpoints, including the start and finish lines.

 

12. AID STATIONS

​

12.1. There will be various aid stations along the course.
12.2. Reusable cups: No single-use plastic cups will be provided. Each runner must carry their own drinking container.
It is each runner’s responsibility to plan their hydration and nutrition strategy according to the distances and aid station locations.

 

13. WEATHER

​

In case of adverse weather or force majeure, the organization reserves the right to suspend, neutralize, or modify routes and schedules. No refunds will be issued.

 

14. WITHDRAWALS

​

14.1. Voluntary: Except in case of injury, participants may only withdraw at an official checkpoint. If the location is inaccessible by vehicle, the runner must reach the nearest evacuation point on their own. Leaving the course without notifying the organization is prohibited. Runners must check out at official timing checkpoints if withdrawing.
14.2. Mandatory: The organization may stop a runner temporarily or require withdrawal if their condition poses a safety risk.
